This never ends well.
Canabalt is one of my favorite games on iPhone.
I just keep coming back to it, regardless of whatever “flavor-of-the-moment” catches my eye, I still often end up running from roof to roof.
After having the game on my phone for well over six months, I noticed that it was one of the very few games that made it beyond a week or two… for how simple the game is and the slightly higher price point, its hard to recommend something like that when there are so many options that offer the exact same thing.
Where this really comes together, is how well it pulls you in, it “feels” like more when you stop playing it. It just works for me as a whole. The jump feels right – from the rolling land to holding your finger down for an extra moment to get that extra bit of flight. Honestly, if the jump physic didn’t work as well, the game would fall right into that realm that all the similar games of this sort.
The little John Woo doves, boxes and office chairs to stumble over when you’ve gained too much momentum. The marching robots of death in the background always make me wonder, what caused all of this monochrome apocalypse.
The music! The two tracks are really well matched, it doesn’t get old as you die. Over and over. Slamming into building sides and tripping off the edges is your birthright, the electronic beats just further the action.
I’m totally gushing here but I had to get that out, I spend too much on games in the app store, but this one has found a place in my heart.
Its really cool you can play the game at the official site for free too.
